“Nava Nachiyar” refers to Andal, a revered female saint and poet in the Tamil Bhakti tradition. Andal is also known as “Nava Nachiyar,” which translates to “the new goddess” or “the young goddess.” She is one of the twelve Alvars, the Tamil poet-saints devoted to Lord Vishnu. Andal’s works, especially her Thiruppavai and Nachiyar Thirumozhi, express her deep love and devotion to Lord Vishnu and are widely celebrated in Tamil literature and religious tradition.
“Nachiyar Thirukolam” refers to the divine form or appearance in which Andal, also known as Nachiyar (goddess), is dressed and venerated in temples. This term is often used to describe the special attire and ornamentation of Andal in a temple ritual, where she is adorned as a bride ready to marry Lord Vishnu.
